Free online Euchre, the classic card game
Deal in against three bots, or open a private room and share the code so friends can take the seats. Games run to 10 points (or 7 if you pick the short game against the bots) with stick-the-dealer, so every hand gets a trump suit, and whoever makes trump can go alone for a shot at four points.
What is Euchre?
Euchre is the four-player partnership game of the American Midwest and Ontario: 24 cards, five tricks, a few minutes per hand. Its twist is the bowers: when a suit becomes trump, its Jack becomes the highest card in the game, and the other Jack of the same colour sneaks in as second-highest. New to the game? Our guide to how to play euchre covers the full rules in a few minutes.
How to play a hand of Euchre
- Four players in two partnerships, using only the 9 through Ace of each suit. Everyone gets five cards, and one card is turned face-up.
- In turn, players may "order up" the up-card's suit as trump or pass. If all four pass, the second round lets them name a different suit.
- Whoever calls trump becomes the makers; their Jack is the right bower, the same-colour Jack the left.
- Five tricks are played; the makers need three to score.
- Hands repeat until a team reaches 10 points.

Common questions
- What on earth is a bower?
- The Jack of trump (right bower) and the Jack of the same colour (left bower): the two best cards in the hand. Forgetting the left bower is how beginners get euchred.
- What does "euchred" mean?
- The makers called trump and took fewer than three tricks, so the defenders score 2 points.
- Is going alone worth it?
- All five tricks alone scores 4 instead of 2; three or four tricks still scores the normal 1. Here only the player who made trump can go alone. Both bowers and an ace is the textbook loner.
- Can I play Euchre online with friends?
- Yes. Create a private room, share the code, and bots fill any seats your friends don't take.
- Can you play Euchre with 2 players?
- Euchre is a four-player partnership game, but two of you can still play online together with bots in the other seats. For a real table with fewer than four, see our rules for 3-handed and 2-handed euchre.
