Play 29 online free: four players in two partnerships bid for card points, with the Jack worth 3, the Nine 2, and the Ace and Ten 1 each, under a trump the bidder keeps face down. Play against bots or with friends in a private room.
Four players in two partnerships, a short 32-card deck, eight cards each.
Jack scores 3, Nine 2, Ace and Ten 1 each. That is 28 points in the whole deck.
Bid the points your side will collect, from 16 to 28. If the first three players pass, the dealer plays at 16.
The winning bidder picks the trump suit face down, and it stays hidden until a player who can't follow suit asks for it.
Make your bid and your side gains a game point; miss it and you lose one. First side to six wins the match.
Twenty-Nine is a four-player partnership card game where you bid for card points: each Jack is worth 3, each 9 is worth 2, each Ace and 10 is worth 1, and the rest score nothing. It is played across much of north India, in Bangladesh and in Nepal. The Jack is the top card of every suit and the 9 beats the Ace. The bidder chooses the trump suit and keeps it face down until a player who can't follow suit asks for it. Play Twenty-Nine (29) online free against bots or with friends in a private room.
How a hand works
Four players, two partnerships, 32 cards: the 7 up to the Ace in each suit. In every suit the order is J, 9, A, 10, K, Q, 8, 7.
Starting left of the dealer, bid the card points your team will capture: minimum 16, maximum 28. If the first three pass, the dealer plays at 16.
The winning bidder picks the trump suit and keeps it face down. It stays hidden until someone can't follow suit and asks for it.
Only sixteen cards carry points: each Jack 3, each 9 two, each Ace and 10 one. That is 28 in all.
Count the points after eight tricks. Reach your target and your side gains a game point; fall short and it loses one. The match runs to ±6.
Game points: first to six
+1the bidding side made its bid−1the bidding side fell short; the defenders' score doesn't move either way±6ends the match: +6 wins, −6 loses. At a real table it is kept on a red six and a black six
Older rules give one extra point for winning the last trick, and 28 card points plus that one make 29. Most players now leave it out, and so do we: 28 card points.
When is the trump revealed?
Only when a player can't follow suit and chooses to ask. Until that moment, even the bidder's partner doesn't know it.
